I love a good wedding, so I’m lucky that a large part of my photography career has been photographing weddings! Over the years Chris and I have photographed somewhere in the order of 300+ weddings… that is a lot of weddings! We have met some incredible people, photographed in some amazing locations and witnessed people in love committing to marriage.
We remember all of our wedding couples, the quirks and highlights of their wedding day and the people who surround and support them. For me it is a privilege to be present and witness the declaration of love and intent of marriage – oh and of course to take photographs too! I’ll admit to shedding a tear or two at every wedding as well – I did say I like a good wedding!
What does stand out to me as an observer of weddings is that no two weddings are the same – ever! And there is no right or wrong way to have a wedding! We have photographed young, old, same sex, trans gender couples, couples who have been together for years and others that have know each other a short time. Bi-cultural weddings, second time around weddings, blended families, and most importantly; couples head over heels and totally in love with each other!
You may notice on my website there aren’t too many wedding photographs. Once we had our own children we scaled back on the weddings and now only shoot a handful of weddings each year. This way I still get my wedding fix, keeping me fresh and itching to get into it!
I’ll let you in on a little secret… this week Chris and I celebrate our own wedding anniversary – 10 years – and still head over heels and totally in love!
